FREE TRAVEL ADVICE: Ride roundtrip from Detroit to Chicago for $2.50
Do you love to shop in Chi-town or have friends there that you would love to visit? Do you know about Megabus? Megabus is a bus line that has been in business in Detroit since Spring of 2006. They only operate in Detroit between Detroit and Chicago. On every Megabus are 4 seats that are $1 each way. With a 50 cents processing fee, that total roundtrip price for these seats are $2.50.
My son and I took Megabus to Chicago for a vacation in August 2006 and I only paid $4.50 total for both our roundtrip seats. To get this great price, you have to book the trip when the exact day and time you want is first entered on the website: http://www.megabus.com/ which means you must start checking the website well before when you want to take your trip. I started checking for my August trip in May. Also, be sure to keep your confirmation number with you at all times. Without this number, you will not be allowed on the bus.
Megabus has two pickup stops: Wayne State and Grand Circus Park. Once in Chicago, the dropoff point is Union Station where you can take the bus, a cab, or walk to your hotel. Goodluck!

For Teachers - Airborne Teacher Trust Fund
Why the Airborne® Teacher Trust Fund?
Times are getting tough for many educational programs. The facts can be daunting:
In 2007, $3.5 billion will be cut from the Department of Education, a 4% decrease in funding from last year. Less than 2 cents on the dollar spent on education support the critical elementary and secondary education programs that help our schools.
Surveys show that teachers believe arts education programs are endangered because of the No Child Left Behind Act, which focuses primarily on math, science, foreign-language programs and standard tests. Research shows that the 3 to 6 p.m. is the peak period for juvenile crime and drug & alcohol experimentation, a time slot that could be filled with extracurricular school programs if they existed. As district budgets become tighter, schools are faced with the difficult decision of having to cut important programs, particularly art and music.
In response, Airborne, Inc., has developed the Airborne Teacher Trust Fund program to help school communities across the nation revive these ever-important learning programs.

Liberty and Justice for All, including the economically-disadvantaged
"With Liberty and Justice for All"
The Henry Ford has an exciting exhibit entitled With Liberty and Justice for All. This exhibit explores the evolution of American freedom through four key eras—American Revolution, Civil War, Suffragette, and Civil Rights. This exhibit is significant due to its educational opportunities and marks a major change for The Henry Ford, as it explores a social innovation rather than a technological innovation. It is also the permanent context for the Rosa Parks bus.
Through the generous support of the Knight Foundation, The Henry Ford is able to offer free admission to Detroit families that are economically-disadvantaged and/or otherwise would not be able to visit the museum and see this exhibit. The Henry Ford is partnering with Mayor’s Time to provide you this opportunity. If you know of an econonmically-disadvantaged person or family interested in free tickets, please contact Jannice King at janking@mayorstime.com. Note: This is not to be used for school field trips.

Guaranteed Jobs Free Training Program for Detroiters
Mayor Kilpatrick on Thursday promoted two new Detroit Workforce Development Centers that provide free training directly linked to guaranteed jobs.
The Health Care Career Center, in downtown Detroit, has partnered with the Oakland University School of Nursing for 10-week training courses that will enable graduates to become certified nursing assistants at the Detroit Medical Center.
The city hopes to get 300 people through the program by year-end.
On the east side, the Hospitality/Retail Career Center, working with Wayne County Community College and Goodwill Industries, will train people to work at CVS pharmacies. The city hopes 500 people will move through that program by year's end.
For more information Detroiters interested in one of the new training programs should contact the Detroit Workforce Development Department at (313) 962-9675 or visit the Web site http://www.detroitmi.gov/
