My Dad with my son in 2000 |
Fatherhood is pretending the present you love most is soap-on-a-rope. ~Bill Cosby~
I wonder if Father's Day will ever get the same press and Dads will ever get the same caliber of presents as Moms do on Mother's Day. Both Dads and Moms work very hard to raise their kids and bring home the bacon.
My father has always worked very hard to provide for his family. Since I was a kid, he worked two jobs to make ends meet and provide a very beautiful home for my mother and my sisters.
So, I want to say to my Dad who just celebrated his 88th birthday:
I love you Daddy. Thank you for always making me feel safe and secure - and sorry about all that soap-on-a-rope that I gave you when I was a kid :)

"I have fond memories of my Dad putting together my first bike, building my swingset, and putting up my swimming pool. He's the quiet type, but I always know that he'll do anything for me. Ever since he became a grandfather, I've had the chance to watch him interact with my boys and the love he feels for them is evident in his eyes. He's a wonderful father and grandfather. Happy Father's Day Daddy!"
Love,
Laura
