Beginning Monday, Sept. 20, MWLC is making this program available for eight weeks to the first 25 youths aged 10-17 who qualify at each of its 34 locations throughout Michigan and across northern Ohio—a total of 850 youths who can benefit from this offer. Qualifications will be based on an age-appropriate minimum body mass index (BMI) as determined by MWLC guidelines.
“We all know the dangers of childhood obesity,” said Alberta Lipiniski, nursing supervisor of Medical Weight Loss Clinic. “Nearly every day, the media is reporting on the dangers of this condition and how it has become an official ‘epidemic.’ We want to help provide the tools and support that these young people need to learn how to lead a healthier lifestyle.”
Individuals interested in taking advantage of this free offer can contact MWLC at 800-GET-SLIM to schedule an appointment at a clinic in their area and begin a personalized weight loss program. If demand should exceed available clinic resources for the day, individuals will be offered an appointment at an alternate clinic nearby until all spots are filled.
Participants who successfully complete the eight-week program will receive two tickets to a Detroit Pistons game. They also will be entered for an opportunity to win a free makeover valued at $500 for new clothing and a new hairstyle.
