REVIEW & GIVEAWAY: Wendy's "Pick 2" Menu - Good Eating at a Good Price

The Michigan Bloggers at the Wendy's "Pick 2" Meet-up (except for @LauraMotorCity)

On Thursday, I was part of a group of Michigan bloggers that were asked to review the new "Pick 2" menu at Wendy's.  I have eaten at Wendy's plenty of times, but I was not aware of their new "Pick 2" menu.  Each blogger was asked to invite two friends to come along and we each came with a good appetite for the experience.

Not being shy, I started off the blogger line to order my meal.  The Wendy's "Pick 2" menu is priced at $4.99. We were each given a $7 Wendy's gift card to pay for the meal.  As I looked up at the menu board, there were lots of options to choose from.  The "Pick 2 Menu" pairs any premium half-size salad with one of 7 options for a total of 28 different meal combinations.

The four salad options are the Spicy Chicken Caesar Salad, the Baja Salad, the BLT Cobb Salad, and the Apple Pecan Chicken Salad.  The salad selection can be paired with one of the following options: a Dansai Bottled Water, a Small Frosty, any Small Beverage, a Baked Potato, a Small Chili, a Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger or Chicken Go Wrap.

For my meal, I chose the Baja Salad with a Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger and a small 99 cents lemonade. The Baja Salad contains meaty chili with fresh pico de gallo, guacamole, tortilla strips and it is all toped with creamy red jalapeno dressing.  Since I was very hungry, I dug into my meal which was very good. My two friends also enjoyed their meals as I could tell by the happy expressions on their faces. My BFF was already very familiar with the Wendy's "Pick 2" menu and she L-O-V-E-S the Wendy's Baja Salad. Actually, most everyone in our group of bloggers ordered the Baja Salad as one of their "Pick 2" choices.

Meet the Wonderful Wendy's Store Manager, Izetta

After the blogger meet-up was over, I and my friends stayed a while to relax and sip on our drinks.  We also took this opportunity to learn a little more about Wendy's from the store's manager, Izetta.  Izetta impressed everyone from the moment we entered Wendy's with her wonderful, big personality and her kind and friendly manner.

Izetta has been with the Wendy's organization for over 7 years and has managed the Wendy's at 10 Mile Road and Northwestern Highway in Southfield for 3 1/2 years.  When I think of fast food employment, I would not believe that someone would stay for so long with one fast food chain, so I asked Izetta about her longevity with Wendy's. Her answer was that she loves her job. She has helped build a loyal customer base at her store by walking around and getting to know everyone. I have to say that she made all of us feel welcome from the moment that we entered the restaurant. She told us she has customers that come in and ask for her by name. Now that is saying something because this Wendy's location does a ton of business with over 650 orders a day just from the drive through alone!

My time at Wendy's was a wonderful experience. I got to meet some wonderful bloggers, hang out with my friends while eating some tasty food, and meet a great Wendy's store manager that is making every customer feel welcomed and at home. I am now seriously re-thinking my usual "drive thru" habit at Wendy's.  Izetta, we will be back!
