Celebrate Kwanzaa at these FREE events
The Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History in conjunction with the Shrine of the Black Madonna hosts the first day of Kwanzaa, Umoja (Unity). Join them as we celebrate with friends and family and pay tribute to our rich cultural heritage. Events include music by the Nationaires, a dramatic performance byOliver Pookrum and the African Renaissance theater, as well as storytelling, drumming and African dance!

The day's schedule includes:
• 12 - 7 pm: Kwanzaa Family Fun Fest w/crafts, storytelling and marketplace
• 3:30 - 4:45 pm: screening of "The Black Candle," a Kwanzaa celebration film by M.K. Asante, Jr. featuring Chuck D., Dead Prez, Maya Angelou and more
• 5 - 7 pm: Kwanzaa Ceremony led by The Shrine of the Black Madonna

• 5 - 7 pm: Kwanzaa Ceremony led by The Shrine of the Black Madonna
Kwanzaa events for the week include:
• Tuesday 12/28 from 12 - 7 pm: Ujima (Collective Work & Responsibility)
• Wednesday 12/29 from 12 - 7 pm: Ujamma (Cooperative Economics)
• Thursday 12/30 from 12 - 7 pm: Nia (Purpose)
