Here is a highlight of the FREE activities you can do this weekend in the metro Detroit area and beyond:
On Friday, the movies "
"Just Go With It" and
"Gnomeo and Juliet in 3D" opens to theaters nationwide.
But are these movies any good? Before you spend your hard earned money, read our movie reviews from guest blogger Liz Parker. Oh, and make sure you get the

On Friday at 7pm, go to the Dearborn Borders for a
FREE Meet & Greet with Russell Simmons. Russell will be doing a reading and signing for his new book "
Super Rich: A Guide to Having it All". You will need a wristband to attend this event, so make sure you call ahead to the Dearborn Borders for more information.
Friday is the last day to enter to win a $399 SAYL chair from
Michigan based Herman Miller. This chair was showcased at the Consumer Electronic Show in Vegas and contains some special construction that makes it very unique. So make sure to enter the Twitter contest for a chance to make it your own for

Friday is the first day of the weekend long
FREE Detroit Winter Blast at Campus Martius This year marks the return of the
GIANT SNOW SLIDE and courtesy of the Ambassador Bridge Company kids can ride
FREE TODAY from 11am-4pm only.
If you are shopping at Oakland Mall this weekend, make sure you stop and get your
FREE Truffles for Valentine Day. Anyone that spends $50 in Oakland Mall can stop by the Information Center while supplies last and pick up some chocolate. We won't tell it was FREE...
Remember, there will be another
FREE Detroit Pistons Meijer Day at the store in White Lake, MI. Meet Detroit Piston Ben Gordon. Contact the store for the hours that Ben will be available for autographs.
Also on Saturday is the
FREE Panera Family Fun Day at the Grosse Pointe Panera location. The event will feature cookie decorating, craft projects and reading activities all FREE for children who attend.
And Saturday is the
FREE Lowes Build & Grow Clinic for Kids starting at 10am. This week, the kids will build at Heart Music Box that will make a perfect
FREE Valentine's Day Gift.
