MOTOWN WINTER BLAST ENGAGES COMMUNITY TO BECOME PART OF VOLUNTEER TEAM, ASSIST WITH SNOW SLIDE: HOSTING VOLUNTEER RECRUITMENT EVENT ON FEBRUARY 5th
Seventh annual metro Detroit event runs Feb. 11-13
Organizers for this year’s Motown Winter Blast are looking for individuals and groups, such as student council, ski clubs, honor society or church organizations, to play an important role in the festival. To join the fun and help make the event a success, Motown Winter Blast is hosting a volunteer recruitment event from 10 a.m. – noon and 1 – 3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 5 at the Gem Theatre, 333 Madison Street in Detroit. Volunteers are needed for the Ambassador Bridge Snow Slide attraction and other positions at the festival, which takes place Friday, Feb. 11 – Sunday, Feb. 13.
“Our volunteers will help us make this an event that Detroit can be extremely proud of,” said Jonathan Witz, event producer. “They will be assisting on the Snow Slide and in information booth relations, or as a festival greeter or an ice skating assistant, or in some other capacity. Being part of an event like this is an incredible experience. By donating their time, enthusiasm, manpower and expertise, they will come away feeling they have made a real difference and ensured that the crowds have a wonderful time at Motown Winter Blast.”
Motown Winter Blast organizers will provide volunteers with complimentary incentives, hot chocolate, coffee and snacks throughout the festival. Volunteers will receive complimentary parking for training meetings on Saturday, Feb. 5, as well as during volunteer shifts at the festival.
Organizers are looking for friendly, outgoing, flexible individuals who like to meet people and are available to attend one of the two 2-hour training sessions held on Feb. 5. They must be 18 years or older to volunteer on their own, or 16 years and 17 years to volunteer with an adult aged 21 or older during their shift. Interested individuals are asked to visit the Motown Winter Blast website prior to the training meeting to learn more about the festival – http://www.winterblast.com/. At the meeting, volunteers will indicate their preference for work assignments and sign up.
An average shift is approximately four and a half hours and volunteers are requested to donate time for a minimum of two shifts during the festival weekend.
A diverse array of exciting winter experiences, live entertainment and special interactive events is planned for the festival. The event hours are: Friday, 11 a.m.-11 p.m.; Saturday, 11 a.m.-11 p.m.; and Sunday, 11 a.m.-9 p.m.
