Natalie Portman, Black Swan |
I thought I had written a post about this before, but I think I've just written one about "Oscar surprises" and, today, about possible "Oscar upsets." So here are my picks for this year's Oscars, in the main categories:
Best Picture:
The King's Speech
~I'd like to see Inception or The Social Network win this, and it's possible that The Fighter may creep in as an upset, but King's Speech has been winning awards left and right.
Actor in a Leading Role:
Colin Firth, The King's Speech
Actress in a Leading Role:
Natalie Portman, Black Swan
~Creepy but great movie, and she's awesome in it. See Black Swan if you haven't already.
Actor in a Supporting Role:
Christian Bale, The Fighter
Actress in a Supporting Role:
Melissa Leo, The Fighter
~I'd like to see Hailee Steinfeld (True Grit) win this as an upset, but if anyone will upset Leo, it'd probably be Amy Adams, also from The Fighter.
Animated Feature Film:
Toy Story 3
Writing (Adapted Screenplay):
The Social Network (Aaron Sorkin)
Writing (Original Screenplay):
Inception (Christopher Nolan)
~Nolan, also the director of Inception, got snubbed from the Directorial race, so I'd like to think the Academy will honor him in this category.
Directing:
The King's Speech, Tom Hooper
~Could be anyone but he won the Directors Guild of America award, which most of the time is a predictor of who will win the Oscar.
Music (Original Score):
Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross - The Social Network
Music (Original Song):
"We Belong Together" - Toy Story 3
~"Coming Home" from Country Strong could sneak in here but I'm going with Toy Story 3 for the win.
What are your choices for these categories? Do you agree with me, or have different opinions? Sound off in the comments!
