The month of May will mark the release of a new album from Canadian artist Johnny Reid that is sure to have some folks in Nashville wondering where this singer has been hanging out before now. Johnny Reid is one of the most successful artists to come out of Canada. This Scottish-born, Toronto-bred singer-songwriter regularly sells out 6,000 seat arenas in Canada and now he is bringing his unique sound to the U.S.
Johnny Reid has a very memorable voice. His voice is equal parts country and soul and the slight rasp of his voice makes his sound very unique - kind of reminds me of Joe Cocker. His album "Introducing Johnny Reid" (EMI/Manhattan Records) contains music that is both inspirational and heart warming. I listened to his album as I was driving home from work and I found myself tapping my fingers on the steering wheel and singing along. Even my son told me to turn up the music. My favorite songs from the album include the inspirational "Today I'm Gonna Try and Change the World" and "Hands of a Working Man" which reminds us of the power of the working class.

Detroit Public TV will be featuring Johnny Reid on their Saturday Night Concert Series. The show "Johnny Reid Live: Heart and Soul" will be shown on Saturday, April 9th from 9:00 - 10:30 p.m. ET. Filmed at Halifax’s Metro Centre in late November 2010, on the final day of his sold-out Canadian tour, this show includes the songs "Today I'm Gonna Try and Change the World," "Hands of a Working Man," "Let's Go Higher," "That Man Is Me," "Help Me Make It Through the Night," "Darlin'" and "My Girl."
If you like country, if you like soul, if you like inspirational, if you like feel good music, then you will like "Introducing Johnny Reid".
