Goodwill Industries Stage to feature performance by Radio Disney “N.B.T.” artist Coco Jones, celebrating 90 years of Goodwill support for local jobs
In celebration of its 90th anniversary, Goodwill Industries of Greater Detroit will entertain Metro Detroit families and children during the River Days Festival on Friday, June 24 through Sunday, June 26 by sponsoring the first-ever concert stage of local and Radio Disneyentertainment, presented by the DTE Energy Foundation at the Meijer Kids Zone.
The Goodwill Industries Stage is open from noon until 8 p.m. June 24 through 26. Southeast Michigan youth will be able to play interactive games, grab giveaways and enjoy entertainment from a wide range of local and national talent at the Goodwill Industries Stage at Rivard Plaza and the William G. Milliken State Park. The stage celebrates Goodwill Industries of Greater Detroit’s 90th anniversary supporting Metro Detroit families by helping parents earn jobs and become “Trained, Trusted and Ready to Work.”
A “Free Friday” promotion from the Ambassador Bridge Company allows free admission between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Friday, June 24 and also from 4pm to 11pm on Thursday, June 23rd. Also, there will be a “first free hour” on Saturday, June 25 and Sunday, June 26 between 11 a.m. and noon so individuals can get in free. If admitted during that time, attendees can stay throughout the day or leave and return later with the festival wristband.
Radio Disney AM 910, part of the #1 radio network for kids, tweens and families, will host on-stage entertainment featuring a performance by Radio Disney "N.B.T." artist Coco Jones. Additionally, Coco will be featured as a musical guest and guest star in multiple episodes of Disney Channel’s "So Random!"
The Kids Zone will also feature a Stories and Shows Theater with magic and puppet shows by Mary Ellen Clark and DynaMike, as well as storytelling by Kids Zone favorite, Lauren Thomas. The Green Arts and Crafts Station will feature face painting, hand painted post cards with the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA), recyclable crafts with Arts & Scaps, and the Matrix Theater’s “Detroit Marshland” Project, which allows children to make and decorate a giant frog puppet and collage to be used in a show about Detroit marshlands.
