Just Baked - coming to a grocery store near you

On Thursday, October 6th, I was invited to the grand opening of the new Just Baked production facility in Livonia, MI.  After just 3 years, owner Pam Turkin has grown Just Baked so big and so fast that they needed bigger accommodations to bake even more of those yummy cupcakes that everyone loves.

And now with the new production facility, there is space enough for those great cupcakes to go national.   Everyone will be able to buy them soon in a grocery store near you!

Just Baked: Go big or go home!

Here is Wayne County Executive Robert Ficano, Just Baked owner Pam Turkin, and Livonia Mayor Jack Kirksey during the ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Just Baked 16,000 square feet production facility.

There were plenty of yummy cupcakes for everyone at the party.  I had to get a photo of my favorite cupcake - the Fat Elvis (front). The Fat Elvis is a banana cake topped with peanut butter-buttercream and dipped in homemade ganache - totally yummy!

There were also some custom cakes on display including a cake that looked like a stack of pancakes with butter and syrup and this cake that looked like a slice of pizza. Pam Turkin is the cake boss of Detroit...

The artist, Kobie Solomon, painted 3 weeks in 100 degree heat to create the mural

Just Baked owner Pam Turkin, commissioned a custom mural for one of the large walls in the new Just Baked facility. The mural, which is spray painted graffiti art, was done by former Detroit College of Creative Studies (CCS) student Kobie Solomon and shows cupcakes making a break for it from the delivery truck only be eaten by some hungry kids. The painting took 3 weeks in over 100 degree heat to complete.

Although the party was in the middle of the afternoon, Pam gave all the adults another reason to smile besides eating lots of yummy cupcakes. Guests also got to sample Hard Luck Candy Vodka, which is bottled in Temperance, MI. The vodka is candy flavored and includes the old fashioned favorites of lemon drop, red fish, root beer, and orange cream.

Who does not love cupcakes? Everyone at the party was enjoying the delicious Just Baked cupcakes including this adorable little girl who was celebrating her sixth birthday....

...and Tawnya Rose from Fifth Third Bank in Southfield, MI, who loved her Red Velvet cupcake...

... and Rebecca Turner from Maddin Hauser in Southfield, MI, who also loved her Red Velvet cupcake.  Cupcakes are a universal feel good food, especially when they are made by Just Baked ;)
