Dakota Goyo with Hugh Jackman, stars of "Real Steel" |
On Wednesday, I was one of eleven bloggers that interviewed actor Dakota Goyo from the movie "Real Steel" which opens in theaters on Friday, October 7th. Twelve year old Dakota gave a wonderful performance in the movie and almost stole the show from veteran actor Hugh Jackman.
We had a few technical challenges during the phone interview, but Dakota sure knew how to charm all the mom bloggers with his answers that were at times far beyond his years, but mostly showed that he is just a happy-go-lucky typical kid.
On whether his likes doing feature movies or voice over work...
Dakota prefers doing feature films because with voice over work, he does not get to form relationships with other actors since it is just him in a sound booth.
On if he is a true gamer like in the movie (my question) ...
Yep, this kid is a gamer and his favorite video game is the Real Steal Video Game based on the movie.
On the pranks Hugh Jackman played on him during the movie...
Hugh pretended that the brakes had failed on the truck they were driving in during filming a scene. Dakota said he was scared silly until Hugh pulled the truck to a gentle stop and smiled at him.
On his great dancing during the movie...
He was not a dancer before the movie began. Dakota had a choreographer who taught him all those cool moves and now he dances all the time.
On what his classmates at school think of his movie career...
Dakota said that his friends like him for him and his career is not part of his friendships.
On his favorite subject at school...
Dakota charmed us all by saying his favorite classes are Gym and Art, but if we were looking for a "real" class, then he would have to say science is his favorite because he likes the labs and working with chemicals.
On his crying scenes during the movie...
Dakota says that he meditates before those scenes so that he is in the right emotion for crying on cue.
On seeing the final movie with all the robots added in...
He did not see the final movie until the London premier and Dakota thinks that the stuntmen and computer generated graphics team did a great job.
On what he does for fun...
Dakota thinks acting is fun, but he also likes to hang out with his friends and play golf and other sports.
On his work schedule for the movie...
He worked 9 1/2 hours every day and had a tutor on set to keep up with his school work which his regular teacher faxed to him everyday.
On who he liked working with more, Hugh Jackman or the Robots..
Dakota thought about it for a while and then said he could not decide. He loved working with Hugh since who would not want to meet "Wolverine", but working with the robots were equally great.
Thanks to Disney for setting up the interview and offering me this great opportunity. Dakota was a great sport.
