More than 40 local organizations to provide free financial, legal, educational and health services to struggling metro Detroit families
WHAT: Inkster-based Starfish Family Services (Starfish), a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating brighter futures for children in metropolitan Detroit, is hosting a family resource fair—in collaboration with dozens of other local agencies, organizations and educational institutions—to offer local families in need, free financial, legal, educational and health services.
Services available during the event include:·
Free health screenings·
Free legal aid·
Free financial services·
Free childcare while parents visit various services·
Free haircuts for young men·
Free dinner
WHY: In tough economic times, it’s important for struggling metro Detroit families to know about and have access to resources that can help them, with everything from money management, parenting skills, and keeping their families healthy.
WHEN: Thursday, March 29 from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Vendors include but are not limited to: Oakwood Hospital, DTE Energy, Henry Ford Community College, Inkster Public Housing, DMC Children’s Hospital of Michigan, PNC Bank, Neighborhood Service Organization, Inkster Teen Health Center, C.A. King Literary Services, Hart & Associates Construction, “It Works” Debt Reduction, Wayne County Community College
