Lou Gramm will take the stage at 9pm on the Detroit Riverfront |
The 2012 Chevrolet Rockin’ on the Riverfront concert series welcomes the voice of a generation and one of the most recognizable performers in music today, Lou Gramm of Foreigner to the GM Riverfront stage on August 3. The concert presented in partnership with Detroit’s Classic Rock Station 94.7 WCSX-FM and the new Soft Rock 105.1 FM will rock the riverfront stage starting a 7:30p.m.
As the vocalist on 20 Top 40 singles, Lou Gramm is in a class of his own. He exploded onto the international music scene with Foreigner’s chart topper, “Feels Like the First Time” in 1977, and continued to rock the charts with songs like “Cold as Ice,” and “Long Way From Home.” By the release of their second album, Foreigner’s self-titled debut record had gone quadruple platinum. Over the next decade the band continued with an endless string of Top 10 hits, including “Hot Blooded,” “Double Vision,” “Head Games,” and one of the biggest hits of all time, “I Want to Know What Love is.”
Gramm continued rocking the charts after he left Foreigner in 1988, launching two solo albums Ready or Not and Long Hard Look, which also featured chart toppers, “Midnight Blue” and “Just Between You and Me.”
“I am enormously proud of this, and the music I have made with Foreigner,” said Lou Gramm. “I am at a point in my life where I can really enjoy the result of my many years of hard work. I am having fun now, for the first time in a long time.”
WCSX’s own Steve Kosten Band will open the evening at 7:30 p.m., and Lou Gramm will take the stage at 9 p.m.
