Comerica Bank has partnered with the Detroit Public Library to present the FREE Comerica Java & Jazz: A Coffee House Series for the 13th consecutive year. The concert series brings world-renowned jazz musicians to Detroit for music fans to enjoy free of charge.
“Comerica is proud to present the Java & Jazz series, which provides an arts and culture experience for people of all ages, backgrounds and budgets,” said Patricia McCann, vice president, national civic affairs manager, Comerica Bank. “Detroit has a great history of jazz music dating back to the 1950s, and the city continues to be a driving force in the genre today.”
The FREE concerts will be held on the third Tuesday of every month from March through July at the Detroit Public Library, Friends Auditorium located at 5201 Woodward Ave. Detroit, MI 48202.
The series continues Tuesday, May 21st with Saxappeal.
Saxappeal: The name itself brings a new image to the music arena. The young saxophonist, born and raised in Detroit, has been playing since the age of 7. In fact, this young bird, barely able to stand on his own two feet, let alone fly solo, was pushed out of the nest (musically speaking), after a mere 6 months of playing his horn. Now, the extraordinary musician brings anxiety, joy, love, pain, passion, and so many more sensations to the stage while performing. Comfortably known as 'Sax', he has scoped out his flying territory and has set his sights high.
