I'm taking the Ultimate Metro Detroit Stay-cation with a #DayintheD

I love being a visitor in my own City of Detroit

I love the whole concept of taking a stay-cation.  Most of us live a city all our lives and still never take the time to visit the fun places that tourists get to see in Metro Detroit.

You can also save all kinds of money by doing a stay-cation - and you know how I love to save money :)

Over the years, my son and I have taken many stay-cations in metro Detroit and visited all our favorite stops including the Ren Cen, the Detroit Zoo, the Henry Ford Museum, the Motown Museum, and the Detroit Riverfront.

But this week, I get to take the Ultimate Detroit Stay-cation and visit many great Detroit landmarks - all in one day!!

Thanks to a special invitation from Detroit Metro Convention & Visitors Bureau, I will be joining them for A Day in The D, a Detroit-centric day of networking, behind-the-scenes opportunities and special Metro Detroit tour experiences, all to take place on this Thursday, May 23, 2013.

My "A Day in the D" Tour is scheduled to comprise of the following events -

- Taking a behind the scenes Detroit Zoo Tour, including a Giraffe Encounter, Australian Outback Adventure, an up-close visit with red kangaroos and wallabies, Arctic Ring of Life, and a trek through the 70-foot-long underwater polar passage surrounded by swimming polar bears and seals

- Touring the Detroit Historical Museum, including the new Kid Rock Music Lab

- Learning how to make pizza (and then eating it) at Buddy’s Pizza

- Taking a Segways2U Tour of Downtown Detroit

- Touring the Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix

- Dining at Brizola restaurant inside the Greektown Casino-Hotel

This Samsung Galaxy Camera is coming with me, thanks to Verizon Wireless

I will be using Twitter and Instagram to document my progress on the tour with photos.  And thanks to Verizon Wireless, I will be taking photos in style since they are loaning me the new Verizon Wireless Samsung Galaxy Camera, which will enable me to upload all my photos to my social networks using Verizon's super fast 4G LTE network while on the go.
