Last week, my son's protective case for his Samsung Tab 2 Tablet bit the dust He came into my room with a sheepish look on his face carrying the remains of the protective case, which I told him to just throw into the trash. I bought the case for $10 on ebay less than a year ago, so I guess I got what I paid for.
My son dropped his last tablet on the hard concert of my driveway and smashed the screen so I will not allow him to carry his current tablet without it being in a protective case - I'm not stupid. Since he destroyed this last case, I was looking for a case this time that was more rugged. So when a company named Grumdrop contacted me to ask if I would like to review one of their ruggedized protective tech cases, I was all over that offer.
The Grumdrop Drop Tech Series cases are advertised to specifically conform to the shape of the tech device and offers multiple layers of protection for shock absorption, drop protection, extreme ruggedness and hard-core readiness for all your tech device adventures.
When I took the Gamdrop case for the Samsung Tab 2 out of the box, I was very impressed by the protection factor.
This case totally encases my son's entire Samsung Tab 2 Tablet, front, sides, and back. The back and sides of the case resemble the rubber grooves of a car tire. The front is a separate piece that is totally transparent and covers the entire screen. The front transparent screen protector is attached to a plastic frame with edges that are overlapped tightly by the rubber tire like material. This makes for a snug fitting case that totally covers the tablet for maximum protection. Even the power and volume buttons are covered and still operable through the rubber cover.
This case is built like a tank - which is something that my son needs to keep his tablet safe from falls.
I would sum up my review of the Grumdrop Drop Tech Series Cases as follows -
Pros -
- Great protection that covers the entire tech device, screen, sides, back and control buttons
- Surprisingly Lightweight
- Comes in lots of fun colors
Cons -
- Adds bulk to the device
Gumdrop makes cases for tons of tech products including iPhones, iPads, MacBooks, Amazon Kindles, B&N Nooks, Samsung products and HTC products.
The Grumdop Case for my Samsung Tab 2 retails for $60 and other Grumdrop cases for smartphones start at a retail price of $25.
