The Fifth Third Bank is currently accepting applications for the Neighborhood Impact Program (NIP) grant….
NOTE: I just received the following information from a local Detroit area block club caption. The information is time sensitive so please act quickly...
Firth Third Bank's Neighborhood Impact Program NIP assists low-to moderate income homeowners in Detroit with FREE minor home repairs. The NIP grants are only available for owner occupied properties.
NIP grants are available to all eligible homeowners on a first-come, first-served basis, with Fifth Third Bank customers having first priority until funds are depleted. Fifth Third Bank is accepting applications until October 31, 2013.
The NIP grant covers the following minor repairs:
- New Windows
- Roof Repair or Replacement
- Water Heater Repair or Replacement
- HVAC replacement or reconditioned,
- Exterior Doors
- Siding
- Accessibility Improvements
- weather stripping
- caulking or insulation
While the NIP grant is not a panacea, it goes a long way to help meet the needs of families that need an emergency roof repair, for instance, or would like to install insulated windows in order to help bring down the cost of their monthly utility bill.

Since 2006, Fifth Third Bank has awarded more than $1 million in grant funds for NIP eligible homeowners across southeastern Michigan. Fifth Third’s investment in Detroit assists individual homeowners to improve the safety and comfort of their own space and take ownership in the viability of the neighborhoods where they live.
Fifth Third’s goal is to reach families who may be eligible for the NIP grant to ensure they are aware of the program. Families living in structurally compromised housing are more often than not at risk of physical danger because needed repairs may have been put on the back burner at the expense of a more immediate basic need until some extra money comes in. In many families there’s no such thing as extra money. The chance of a minor repair becoming a major problem can be mitigated just by the homeowner taking advantage of available resources.
HURRY!!! APPLICATIONS MUST BE RECEIVED BY THIS THURSDAY, OCTOBER 31, 2013!!!
Good Luck!
