FREE Admission to the Henry Ford Museum for Target Family Days 4/15 - Dearborn

Free Admission to Henry Ford Museum to remember Abraham Lincoln...

Wednesday, April 15, 2015 (Lincoln Remembered) - 9:30am to 5pm

Come to The Henry Ford Museum for live music, dramatic presentations, make and take activities and much more in Henry Ford Museum. Thanks to the generosity of Target, admission to the Museum and parking are free during Target Family Days. Explore the greatest collection ever assembled documenting the American Experience.

On April 15, during the Target Free Day, the museum will commemorate not just Lincoln’s death, but the life of the man who was one of our most unlikely presidents.

To mark the anniversary of Lincoln’s assassination, guests will have an opportunity to see the chair he was sitting in the night of the attack in a special temporary display on the day of the event. Be sure to also visit With Liberty and Justice for All and see our copy of Lincoln’s crowning achievement — the 13th Amendment to the Constitution, which legally abolished slavery throughout the United States.

The chair will be relocated to the front of the With Liberty & Justice for All exhibit for prominent viewing without a case.

Special Lincoln-related special programming..

- Receive a free souvenir program, including a map designating Lincoln-related artifacts on exhibit (while supplies last).

- See a video about Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation throughout the day.

MOVIE REVIEW: Home in 3D

Loved every minute of it...

On March 22nd, my son and I had the pleasure of attending a complimentary advance media screening in Royal Oak, MI of the new animated movie "Home" staring the voices of Jim Parsons, Rihanna, Steve Martin, and Jennifer Lopez.  Since this movie stars the voices of some of my favorite actors and singers, I went into the screening hoping that the movie would be good - and I was not disappointed.

"Home" is the story of an alien named Oh (voiced by Jim Parsons) whose planet is on the run from from a "Darth Vader" like alien.  The leader of Oh's planet, Captian Smek (voiced by Steve Martin) decides that Earth would be a great place for his planet to hide out.  So they take over Earth and while shipping out all the Earthlings to camps in the middle of no where, a teenager named Tip (voiced by Rihanna) gets separated from her mom (voiced by Jennifer Lopez).  Tip is determined to find her mom at any cost and along the journey meets Oh, who is on the run from being terminated for screwing up once too often.

Oh loves Motown :)
Tip and Oh go on a journey not only to find what is missing from their lives, but also to find that the most unlikely of people can form the most strong bonds that can create a true feeling of home no matter where they are from.

"Home" is a excellent movie that is funny, heartwarming, and thought provoking.  If you have ever been made fun of, thought you did not fit in, or have had problems finding your way in life, you will definitely enjoy this movie.  The story is light and comical, the actors are wonderful, and the animation is great, especially in 3D.  My son and I both loved it.

"Home" is in theaters now, runs 94 minutes, and is rated PG for mild action and some rude humor.
