SEPTEMBER 12— MILES AHEAD (2016) - An exploration of the life and music of the late-great, jazz veteran Miles Davis. In the 1970s, down-and-out jazz trumpeter Miles Davis (Don Cheadle) tries to recover his new session tape from music producers. Miles Ahead is directed by, co-written by and stars Don Cheadle. SEPTEMBER 19— MIDNIGHT IN PARIS (2011) - A romantic comedy about a couple who travel to Paris prior to their wedding. While in the City of Light, they meet with family and friends only to discover the magic of Paris and for at least one, a life changing experience. This is the story of a young man’s great love for a city and the illusion people have that a life different from their own would be a much better life lived. (Rated PG-13. 94 min.)
SEPTEMBER 26 —TRUTH (2015) - A newsroom drama detailing the 2004 CBS 60 Minutes report investigating then-President George W. Bush's military service, and the subsequent firestorm of criticism that cost anchor Dan Rather and producer Mary Mapes their careers. Directed by James Vanderbilt and based on the memoir of Mary Mapes. Starring Robert Redford, Cate Blanchett and Elisabeth Moss. (Rated R. 125 min.)
OCTOBER 3—PELE: BIRTH OF A LEGEND (2016) - An inspirational biographical drama that chronicles Pele's meteoric rise from the slums of Sao Paulo, Brazil, to the height of the world soccer stage. Using soccer skills learned on the streets, Pele leads Brazil to its first soccer World Cup victory at the age of 17. (Rated PG. 107 min.)
OCTOBER 10—APOCALYPTO (2006) - In the twilight of the mysterious Mayan culture, young Jaguar Paw is captured and taken to the great Mayan city, where he faces a harrowing end. Driven by the power of his love for his wife and son, he makes an adrenaline-soaked, heart-racing escape to rescue them and save his way of life. Directed by Mel Gibson. OCTOBER 24— VICTOR FRANKENSTEIN (2015) - The classic tale told from Igor's perspective. We see the troubled young assistant's dark origins, his redemptive friendship with the young medical student Viktor Von Frankenstein, and we become eyewitnesses to the emergence of how Frankenstein became the man - and the legend - known today. NOVEMBER 7 —JUNGLE BOOK (2016) - After a threat from the tiger Shere Khan forces him to flee the jungle, a man-cub named Mowgli embarks on a journey of self discovery with the help of panther, Bagheera, and free spirited bear, Baloo. (Rated PG. 106 mins.)
NOVEMBER 14 —VERTIGO (1958) - A San Francisco detective suffering from acrophobia investigates the strange activities of an old friend's wife, all the while becoming dangerously obsessed with her. DECEMBER 5— AWAKENINGS (1990) - The victims of an encephalitis epidemic many years ago have been catatonic ever since, but now a new drug offers the prospect of reviving them. Starring Robert De Niro and Robin Williams. (PG-13. 121 mins.)
DECEMBER 12 —THE GIVER (2014) - The story centers on Jonas (Brenton Thwaites), a young man who lives in a seemingly ideal, if colorless, world of conformity and contentment. Yet as he begins to spend time with The Giver (Jeff Bridges), who is the sole keeper of all the community’s memories, Jonas quickly begins to discover the dark and deadly truths of his community’s secret past.
