Score points with your loved ones and build a Valentine bean bag toss in this hands-on workshop. You and your child can construct a fun bean bag toss game for the whole family to love. Following the bean bag toss game board construction, your child can decorate it with paint and stickers.

All Kids Workshop attendees must be accompanied by a parent or adult at all times.

FREE public planetarium shows at Wayne State University Planetarium - RSVP 1/26 and 2/2

Public Planetarium shows are back at the Wayne State University Planetarium...

The WSU Planetarium is an astronomical education resource for Wayne State University students and the larger Detroit community along with Free Public Planetarium Shows.

Free public planetarium shows are held most Fridays at 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. 2/3 of our 60 seats may be reserved using Eventbrite beginning the Sunday before the show. The other 20 tickets will be available at the door for walk-ins. Ticketed guests that are not at the planetarium 10 minutes before show time will have their seats released to walk-in guests.

Free Young Astronomer shows are offered one Saturday morning per month. These shows are geared towards children under 10 and their families. 2/3 of our seats may be reserved using Eventbrite beginning the Monday before the show. The final 1/3 of tickets will be available at the door for walk-ins. Ticketed guests that are not at the planetarium 10 minutes before show time will have their seats released to walk-in guests.

FREE Ice Skating passes to The Rink at Campus Martius Park courtesy of Meijer starting 1/22

500 FREE passes per week are available while supplies last at select store locations in Detroit and surrounding suburbs...

Beginning Monday, January 22,  2018, the Downtown Detroit Partnership (DDP) in collaboration with Meijer will offer shoppers FREE ice skating admission passes to The Rink at Campus Martius Park.

In total, 500 passes will be distributed per week at the following six store locations in Detroit and surrounding suburbs:

Detroit - 14621 8 Mile Road, 48235
Detroit - 21431 Grand River Ave., 48219
Southfield - 2880 Telegraph Rd., 48034
Allen Park - 3565 Fairlane Blvd., 48101
Royal Oak - 5150 Coolidge Hwy., 49307
Northville - 20401 Haggerty Road, 48167


Passes will be available at the service desk of each Meijer location.

No purchase necessary. Limit four passes per person.

Skaters can redeem their pass on weekdays* from noon until 5 p.m. through March 2. They are invited to bring their own skates or rent a pair for $4.

This promotion is part of a larger effort by the DDP to engage people throughout the city and metro region in a fun, healthy activity. DDP also offers a discount to college students and Downtown Detroit residents every Thursday night. From 5 to 9 p.m., those with a valid student ID or state-issued proof of residency showing a 48226 zip code receive half off admission to the rink.

The Rink at Campus Martius Park is located at 800 Woodward Avenue (at the corner of Monroe Avenue).

*Passes will not be accepted on January 26 due to Meridian Winter Blast.

The Michigan Science Center will offer free general admission on Jan. 15 in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. day!

The Michigan Science Center (MiSci) is committed to creating education programs, exhibits and initiatives that empower and enrich all communities with STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math).

To celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day, MiSci is making STEM accessible for all by offering free general admission on January 15th. 

General admission includes 250+ hands-on exhibits, live stage shows, Spark!Lab from the Smithsonian, Kids Town gallery, STEM Playground space and more. IMAX®, planetarium and 4D theater tickets will be available for purchase at the box office.
